We are all constantly bombarded and stimulated day and night. Imagine the evening news without drama. Imagine a primetime show without drama, especially a reality show! Notice how we get excited to hear the latest gossip: a little drama in our everyday world.
Drama and stimulation are not experiences to be avoided, but the thing about these kinds of drama and stimulation is that they are often someone else’s agenda, someone else’s story. Someone else wants to get a rise or reaction from us. Maybe it is the media, or a co-worker, or just boredom in life that compels the seeking of drama. I am not referring to the excitement or drama of entertainment. I am referring to the need for a constant daily dose of drama. And for some people, much drama is needed throughout each day.
Imagine stepping out of that. Imagine taking the stimulating charge out of the situation to which you are reacting. Maybe that would not make the best TV program or news or sell products, but in real life, neutrality brings a huge shift to your experience.
Seeing an experience from a place of neutrality allows you to simply observe a situation instead of reacting to a situation. Without judgment and reaction, it is so much easier to experience life more calmly.
