Everyone Thinks Differently

When you are in a relationship, whether at work or at home or anywhere in your life, and you do not share the same views as the other, what can you do to remove tension?

First, realize you cannot change anyone else.
Their views are their own and that is right for them.

Second you can change yourself. You need not change your views, but you can change your reaction to the fact that you have a difference of opinion with another important person in your life.

To do this, start with your daily meditation.
Once you have settled in and are in a place of stillness, begin to look at yourself and the other person with a neutral mindset.
See who they are without judgement.
Look upon them with favor.

This small act of shifting how you view them will allow a shift in the relationship.
It will not change their mind and it will not change their opinion.
It will however change the pressure on the relationship that comes from having opinions and views that are at odds.

Create with your intention a spirit of peace between yourself and others and enjoy the benefits of that peace even as you keep your own ideas and viewpoints.

Compassion

Have compassion for yourself first.
By having compassion for yourself, you can then have compassion for others.

Spread this through small moments throughout the day and watch how it spreads inside you and in the world around you.
